Android Auto vs Apple CarPlay

Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are quickly becoming the must-have feature in every new car. These two apps are quickly taking over the traditional infotainment system offered by manufacturers. They run alongside the manufacturer’s infotainment system and allow the users to choose which interface they prefer. Their simple user-interface and mobile-app like design and functionality; along with regular updates to improve performance make these apps easier to use. This feature has basically eliminated the reason to add factory navigation as an optional feature. As long as users have access to mobile data, they can get access to Google or Apple Maps. Since the respective map apps are updated on almost a weekly basis, the user does not need to visit a dealership to get the latest map update. BMW stands out among other manufacturers by being the only one to offer Wireless Apple CarPlay allowing users to connect without the need for a cable.
